It has been a productive summer of fundraisers for East Tennessee Christian Home & Academy. The “Running Home” 5k was held on August 1st, 2015 and thanks to the efforts of a great volunteer team led by Raegen Taylor, Madison Taylor and Macy Carrier and many others, $7425 was raised to benefit the ETCHA ministry. ETCHA would like to thank their team for their tremendous efforts.
One hundred and eight men and women also participated in East Tennessee Christian Home and Academy’s 11th Annual Golf Tournament on August 15th, 2015 at the Elizabethton Golf Course. This highly successful golf fundraiser was due to the strong leadership of Delores Fox, event chairperson, ETCHA’s board of directors and the many volunteer hours of planning and preparation. ETCHA is thankful for the over forty hole sponsors, thirteen cart sponsors, numerous in-kind donors and three corporate sponsors including James Crouch Garage of Jonesborough, Trinity Marble and Granite of Roan Mountain and Dean Mcpherson with ChemStation of Kingsport.
The twosome of David Sapp and Ben Treadway both of Crossroads Christian Church won the Men’s Division with a score of 59. For the second year in a row, first place in the Senior Division was achieved by Caroll Deaton and Ansley Bishop of First Christian Church, Erwin with a score of 62. Matt Carson and Kathy Harper, Boones Creek Christian and First Christian Church, Johnson City, had a score of 66 to win the Mixed Division while Sharon Kyte and Debbie Meade from Lower Shell Christian Church won the Women’s Division with a score of 68. The Pastor’s Trophy went to Todd Edmondson of First Christian Church, Erwin, having a total of 18 members playing in the tournament.
This was our most successful golf tournament to date. We had more donors, more golfers and better backing from the community this year. Approximately $21,000 was raised to benefit the operational expenses for the residential and academic programs for adolescent girls, for a total of nearly $30,000 raised by these two summer events. Preparations are underway for, “Joyfest,” our annual concert fundraiser which is scheduled for October 24th at T.A. Dugger Jr. High in Elizabethton.
